Consensus of the above card sortings/ Level 1

After analyzing the above comments and card placements of all 6 participants we established that there are essentially two groupings of cards that are consistently present. These two groups are Playing the Game and Strategies for Playing the Game. Both TD and JT placed the strategy grouping first while the other 4 placed it after the playing group. This analysis was brought before the group and generally agreed upon. There were several cards that the group felt should appear in both groups, these were points and theme. The secrets card was placed between to two groups. The notion of this card being a separate "layer" was introduced at this point.

RULES

Part of the strategy (HL).
Accepted social rules (JT).
Boundaries set by the playing of the game, "everything can be changed…control lies with the other players" (CG).
"Rules apply to the points system not the gossip itself" (NR).
Rules are needed because you "need to know how to acquire points…[yet] playing the game is more important than wining" (JT).

KNOWLEDGE OF THE NETWORK

"The more you know about the people [inside and outside of your group]…the more knowledge you have…the more you can manipulate people with your gossip" (CG).
" Even though you might not know the people in the network you might know what kind of gossip people like" (CG).
"…emerges over time…recognizes some patterns…[like] a history of your playing of the game"(JT).

SOCIAL STATUS

This is something you "might want to protect [not achieve]…you’ll probably do lots of lying"(JT).
"Connected to points"(HL).
"Credibility is more associated with points than social status…I would be more inclined to look at the points [of another player]"(NR).
