participatory design

Level 2 card sorting analysis

Once all the participants had performed the second level of card sorting we analyzed the sortings and determined that there were 3 or 4 areas. These areas could be put under the headings (ordered from left to right) upper level, playing tools, and strategizing. Of course these headings are not entirely accurate and should become clearer within the interface development process.

One issue that appeared with the functions cards was that 4 participants placed read fresh gossip near or in the strategizing area. This gave rise to the problem of how to position functionality in relation to strategy. There is clear a lot of cross-over or fluidity between the notions of playing the game and going deeper into the experience by strategizing.

Two questions that need to be addressed are;

Where is ‘home’?

How do we deal with profiles? This question needs to be brought up with our focus group.
