Applied Research and industry partnerships are core features of TechBC. Faculty spend a significant part of their time working with industry to create and apply new knowledge which will optimize business practices and opportunities. This real-time insight and perspective on new directions is shared with students and enhances the currency of TechBC's academic programs. TechBC's emphasis on applied research and industry partnerships will also lead to the creation of a highly attractive business environment in the areas surrounding the campus in Surrey, British Columbia.

Nokia Research Center
Nokia Research Center, the corporate R&D unit of Nokia, explores and develops new technologies and concepts required for paving the way towards the mobile information society, where the Internet and mobile communications are fully combined.

Nokia has a long tradition in international university cooperation. Nokia is also an active partner in a variety of multilateral R&D projects and programs in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In many cases, this cooperation is realized with Nokia Research Center as the gateway.
