Kristina Andersen
Senior HCI Engineer, Mediasurface
Ltd and WAG. Kristina works as the lead HCI and interface designer for Mediasurface
[content management software]. Previously she has worked as a consultant with
projects varying from experimental interface design, pragmatic 'look and feel'
and information management for dotcom's to the design of conceptual objects
ranging from wearable furniture to toys. Her main focus is on how a creative
work method can be applied to the development of concepts and ideas and how
these concepts can in turn be expressed. On Sundays Kristina work on several
hobbyhorse projects with her talented friends. She is a founding member of
WAG, a project researching mobile phone text messaging as interface for emotional
support tools for teenagers. She has a MA in industrial design [specialising
in wearable computers] and a M.Sc in Virtual Environments. She has been speaking
at several conferences and has run countless workshops.
Jussi Holopainen
Research Scientist, Visual Communications Laboratory, Nokia Research
Center. Holopainen joined Nokia Research Center in 1995 and worked on multimedia
terminal software until the end of 1998. Since that he has been doing research
on how new technologies affect games and game play. Before joining Nokia Holopainen
designed, implemented and ran play-by-mail games and was also a cofounder
of one of the first commercial ISPs in Finland. As his business sense was
as good as his political correctness the company folded not so gracefully.
Holopainen has been studying computer science, biophysics and philosophy since
1991 and he still has not finished even a single Masters. He has been a speaker
in a couple of conferences, ranging from software architectures for wearable
computers (ISWC'99) to neuropsychological basis of game play (Consciousness
Reframed III). Holopainen also participates in organizing the Jyväskylä Arts
Festival.
