Below is a summary of data outcomes for
each of our six participants
TD
This participant felt that the most
interesting motivation for play the game was in "exploiting the game
in a mathematical sense in terms of using the rules to get the highest score,
win."
He expressed that his interest would
be to accrue as many points as possible in whatever way he could, inside
or outside of the rules. "I’m interested in getting points, not in
playing the game."
The idea of "memes" was brought
up as another idea for gossip.
Creating a function or area where a
player could get "creative support…suggestions"
was introduced in conjunction with he idea of a function that could write
gossip itself.
The card credibility was changed
to coherence to indicate a positive quality in a piece of gossip or player’s
ability to write gossip "Coherence is a better word than Credibility…Coherence
is something that distinguishes gossip."
CG
CG felt that the outcome or goal of
the game would be that"…ultimately you achieve social status."
"Connectivity map- I see
the map as a network [knowledge of the network]. A way for players to locate
themselves. Who am I, and who is gossiping, and where am I in relation to
those people. A way to check my social status."
As was the case with a number of other
participants CG had some problems with the credibility card, "I
don’t think credibility is the right word…maybe playing ability."
The secrets card was also somewhat
problematic because she did not feel that "this is a game of secrets".
